As I finish up another long day of work, service and motherhood, I think about why I haven’t blogged recently. After the excuses, the exhaustion and the lack of focus, I realize it’s because I’ve been so busy living. Living the blog is so much better than writing it. And when the inspiration hits, the pull of my new moleskin or the convenience of my ipad haven’t been sufficient to grab the words from my brain.
I love my work. Love it enough to stay up late and get up early. Love it enough to create plans and spreadsheets and obsess over videos. My work allows me to create, invent, impact and learn each day.
So today when I heard Steve Jobs passed on, I paused. See he was an innovator who did what he loved to the best of his ability, even when he was dying. While watching an excerpt from his speech at Stanford, I was struck by the quote “stay hungry, stay foolish.” Because no matter what I achieve, I’m hungry to do more. And I happily pursue it to the point of being called foolish.
So here’s to you Steve, I am blessed to be an innovator and blessed to do what I love.
