This picture conveys the sense of family felt during this year’s National Urban League Equal Opportunity Dinner. Although our national office was displaced due to major flooding from Hurricane Sandy, everyone was safe and they were able to pull off a fantastic dinner.
One of the highlights of the evening was presenting the I Am Empowered Award to Hadlee Howell, who quite promptly found me on all social media channels and posted his award. This young man is going places!

I was fortunate to sit across the table from Urban League royalty, Hugh Price, who created the National Urban League Young Professionals. And I almost missed the fact that I was sitting across from Private Practice star, Audra McDonald, who is best known for her 5 Tony Awards. And while it was great to meet her, I was even more impressed with her remarks. She supports women’s right to choose what happens with their bodies and when she sang…I imagined angels. I’m a new fan!
