Honored by National Urban League with Corporate Circle Award 

Bethesda, Md., August 13, 2015 – Marriott International continues its commitment to diversity and inclusion through its support of three of its diversity and inclusion partners – the National Urban League Young Professionals (NULYP), the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and the National Association of Black Hotel Owners, Operators & Developers (NABHOOD).

Marriott supports the NULYP organization throughout the year with their summits and professional development programs.  This year, The NULYPs recognized Marriott with its Corporate Circle Award, (pictured L to R:  Brandi Richard, NULYP President and Apoorva Gandhi, Vice President, Multicultural Affairs- Marriott International) which honors companies that demonstrate above and beyond commitment and engagement with the organization.  “Marriott continues to be a valued partner and genuine supporter of the NUL, particularly the young professionals group, said Richard. We appreciate their global efforts to shine a light on issues that affect and are important to African American GenXers and Millennials.”

NULYP is a National Urban League volunteer auxiliary that targets young professionals ages 21-40 to empower their communities and change lives through the Urban League Movement.

Maruiel Perkins-Chavis, Vice President, Workforce Engagement & Global Diversity gave greetings on behalf of Marriott International at the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Annual Conference’s Clarence Mitchell Luncheon.  The mission of the NAACP is to ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of all people.

Julius Robinson, Vice President of the Autograph Collection Hotels and Erica Qualls-Battey, General Manager of the Atlanta Marriott Marquis represented Marriott during the annual NABHOOD conference as panel participants discussing hotel development, industry leadership and innovation.  NABHOOD’s goal is to increase the number of African Americans developing, managing, operating and owning hotels and increase vendor opportunities and executive level jobs for minorities.
